OSBI INVESTIGATING OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN GRADY COUNTY

** The following update is based on an active and ongoing investigation. The OSBI's initial understanding of the facts and circumstances may evolve over the course of the investigation as witnesses are interviewed and evidence is collected and analyzed.
 
** Upon completion of the OSBI investigation, agents will submit a report summarizing their investigation to the District Attorney’s Office. The District Attorney will determine whether or not to file charges.
 
** The OSBI does not release the name of the officers involved unless the District Attorney determines charges should be filed.

GRADY COUNTY, Oklahoma (December 28, 2021) -
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred last night in Grady County.
 
It is early in the investigation but this is what is known at this time:
  • At approximately 9:00 p.m., the Anadarko Police Department received a call reporting a disturbance at a local hotel.
  • A man, a woman and a child are in a vehicle at the hotel when officers arrive.
  • Officers attempt to stop the vehicle but the driver takes off out of the hotel parking lot.
  • A pursuit ensues that involves the Anadarko Police Department, Verden Police Department, Caddo County Sheriff’s Office, Grady County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).
  • OHP does a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI) and the car is stopped on County Road 1310 and County Road 2760.
  • Once the vehicle stops, the woman and the child get out of the vehicle. Neither were injured.
  • The male subject remains in the vehicle and a short standoff with law enforcement takes place.
  • During the standoff, there is an altercation and shots are fired. The male subject is hit.
  • He is transported to the hospital for treatment. At this time his condition is unknown.
Again, this is an active and ongoing investigation. There is no additional information to release at this time.
