Petaluma Police Investigating Several Reports of Vehicle Tires Being Vandalized Over the Holiday Weekend
On Sunday, December 26th, the Petaluma Police Department (PPD) received reports from local vehicle owners who had discovered one or two tires on their vehicles had been flattened. As of Monday, the PPD has received at least six similar reports from vehicle owners on the west side of Petaluma. The preliminary investigation indicates that a sharp object was used to puncture and deflate the tires.
Investigators are now looking for additional victims or witnesses that may have seen something suspicious or who may have information to help solve these crimes. Anyone with information is asked to call the PPD at (707) 778-4373.
We would like to remind community members to call the PPD if they see suspicious persons or activity in their neighborhood, especially late at night. When calling the PPD it is helpful to obtain a description of the subject and a direction of travel. If you see a suspicious vehicle, please also obtain a description and direction of travel when reporting. The safest locations to park your vehicle to prevent theft and vandalism is inside a closed garage or in your driveway. If you must park on the street, park close to your residence in areas that are well-lit and consider purchasing motion sensor lighting or cameras. For safety, vehicle owners should visually check their vehicle tires before driving.
