Advisory from LASD: ** LA County STORM WATCH WARNING **

Los Angeles County Public Works has issued a winter storm warning that will be in effect for the Los Angeles County region from Wednesday, Dec 29th, starting at 1 AM until Friday, Dec. 31st, at 4 AM.

•Coastal Areas and Valleys: 1-3 inches

•Mountains: 3-6 inches

•Debris Flow:
        - Phase 2 Debris Flow Forecast for burn areas with less than one     years of recovery.
        - Phase 1 Debris Flow Debris Flow Forecast for burn areas with two years of recovery.
        - No Phase Debris Flow Forecast for burn areas in LA County with three or more years of recovery.

• Peak rainfall rates storm are expected to be up to 0.75 inch per hour.

•County agencies are working in unified command to advise residents on how to prepare for this storm event and potentially evacuate 56 households at greatest risk in the Bobcat Fire (Monrovia and Azusa ONLY) and Lake Fire (north County) burn areas.

• Avoid driving on mountain roads or into ponded- or swift-moving water and recent burn areas.

• Preparing in advance is the public’s best defense against storm-related emergencies:

o Develop an emergency plan and know your property’s risk factors for flooding.

o Stay tuned to local weather reports and follow the instructions of law enforcement if told to evacuate.

o Visit READY.LACounty.gov for valuable storm tips, like free sandbag distribution locations, and to sign up for automatic emergency alerts.

o Keep trash cans off the street to allow stormwater to travel freely.

o Find storm-related news on social media using the hashtag: #LARain

o Call Public Works 24-hour Dispatch Center to report storm-related damage or flooding 800-675-HELP (4357)

o People Experiencing Homelessness living within County flood control infrastructure and in need of shelter can access winter shelters throughout LA County (https://www.lahsa.org/winter-shelter).

•Bobcat Fire, Monrovia and Azusa ONLY (Sept.- Oct. 2020)

-115,796 acres (132-square-mile burn area) burned in the Angeles National Forest,
City of Monrovia, and Juniper Hills, Littlerock, Pearblossom, Llano and Valyermo.
-194 structures damages or destroyed
•Lake Fire (August 2020)

PHASE 2 DEBRIS MUDFLOW FORECAST
- 31,089 acres burned in Lake Hughes area
- 45 structures damaged or destroyed
