Crime Alert Bulletin covering the week of December 20-26, 2021

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Tuesday, 12-21-21, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Officer Mulitauopele and Officer Andrade were dispatched to Walgreens on San Pedro Road on a call of a robbery that had just occurred. The reporting party, a customer service clerk, stated she saw a black female with a baby stroller shoplifting and told her, “that’s enough.” The female suspect, a 35-year old San Francisco resident, walked by the customer service clerk, knocked her phone down, pushed her on the chest, and walked out. The female suspect stole a doll and blanket valued at approximately $60. The customer service clerk stated that she saw the suspect walking with two other males, who also shoplifted, on Reiner Street. Lieutenant Brennan located subjects who matched the description provided by the reporting party in the area of Reiner Street and A Street. Officer Mulitauopele took photos of the store video surveillance of the suspects and sent them to Officer Andrade. Officer Andrade confirmed they had the suspects stopped. After searching the second suspect, a 29-year old San Francisco resident, a small baggie of fentanyl was located in his right front pants pocket. He had also taken headphones valued at approximately $35 from Walgreens. He was cited for shoplifting and possession of a controlled narcotic substance. The third suspect, a 44-year old San Francisco resident, was cited for shoplifting.

On Wednesday, 12-22-21, at approximately 9:54 p.m., Officer Covarrubias, Officer Fulmore, and Officer Todaro were dispatched to the 100 block of Longview Drive on the report of two suspicious subjects. Upon arrival, Officer Covarrubias observed a brown BMW sedan parked facing the wrong way of the road, and the driver’s side door was wide open. Officer Covarrubias approached the suspect, who began walking away towards the vehicle’s open driver’s side door. Officer Fulmore attempted to speak to the suspect. The suspect then began running southbound on Longview Drive. Officer Fulmore drove his patrol vehicle and caught up with the suspect. While trying to handcuff the suspect, he continued to struggle and wriggle. Officer Covarrubias and Officer Fulmore eventually were able to handcuff the suspect. After the suspect was arrested, Officer Covarrubias searched his left pants pocket and located a pipe. Officer Covarrubias also found a cell phone in the immediate area that appeared to have been discarded. Officer Fulmore searched the immediate area and located a clear plastic baggie containing crystal methamphetamine. Officer Covarrubias searched the vehicle and found a dark nylon Blackhawk brand firearm holster, a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine, and a digital scale. The reporting party stated that the suspect came uninvited. He was aware that the suspect had a firearm because back in September, the suspect dropped the firearm in the street as he exited his vehicle in front of his residence. Officer Fulmore requested a K9 to assist since the reporting party had seen the suspect previously with a firearm and coupled with Officer Covarrubias finding an empty firearm holster in the vehicle. Officer Michels of the South San Francisco Police Department and his K9 partner “Morty” arrived and assisted in the search. Officer Michels located a snub-nosed .38 Special revolver with five unspent rounds along the suspect’s path of travel. The suspect, a 55-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance with a firearm, possession for sale of a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.

On Thursday, 12-23-21, at approximately 12:46 p.m., a 46-year old San Francisco resident was the victim of an attempted carjacking involving a firearm. This incident occurred in the Home Depot parking lot. The victim parked his car facing southeast and exited his vehicle. The victim heard someone say, “Excuse me, sir.” When the victim turned to face the suspect, the suspect stated, “Give me your fucking keys.” The suspect reached into his left jacket pocket, pulled out a black .40 caliber Sig Saur pistol, and pointed it at the victim’s chest. The victim began backing away from the suspect. The suspect then placed the gun back into his left pocket and entered the backseat of a dark-colored Honda. The Honda drove out of the Home Depot parking lot, headed north on Lake Merced Boulevard, and turned east onto John Daly Boulevard. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s wearing a green parka jacket and dark jeans. This investigation is continuing.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
