On December 29, 2021 at approximately 6:30 pm, officers responded to a fire at a homeless encampment to the rear of a commercial building located in the 200 block of San Geronimo Way. Upon arrival, a fully involved homeless encampment was located with two subjects attempting to extinguish the flames. After the fire was extinguished, a 25-year-old female was located within the encampment. Sadly, she was deceased.
Arson investigators and detectives responded to the scene along with the Santa Clara County Coroner/Medical Examiner. This is an active investigation, and we have no additional information to share at this time. The name of the victim will not be released until after her family has been notified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner.
