Suspect arrested after an armed robbery in West Berkeley
On December 14th, detectives arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery of a person near the intersection of San Pablo Avenue and Delaware Street on November 29th.
On November 29th at 4:11 pm, a man and woman parked in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant near the intersection of San Pablo Avenue and Delaware Street. While the woman remained in their vehicle, the man walked toward the restaurant where he was approached by a lone suspect.
The suspect demanded money and threatened the man with a handgun. After taking the man’s money, the suspect drove away in a SUV.
After speaking with witnesses and reviewing video surveillance footage from the restaurant, detectives were able to identify the suspect as a 44-year-old Oakland man and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
On December 14th, detectives located and arrested the suspect in the parking lot of a card club in Emeryville, CA. When officers searched the suspect’s vehicle, they found a loaded un-serialized handgun (AKA Ghost gun) near the driver’s seat.
When detectives later searched the suspect’s residence, they found an additional un-serialized handgun, a high-capacity magazine, and clothing used during the commission of the robbery.
On December 15th, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged the suspect with PC 211—Robbery, PC 25400(a)(1)—carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, as well as several other criminal enhancements.
