Burglary Investigation Leads to Narcotics and Weapon Seizure


On Sunday, January 2nd, 2022, at approximately 12:17 P.M., the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division, responded to the 4900 Block of Atlantic Avenue, located in the City of Wildwood, in reference to a burglary, of a multi-family motel complex, in progress. The response was a direct result of the owner of the property discovering multiple individuals occupying the interior of one of the complex units, without authorization.

During the interaction with the owner / proprietor, the individuals fled prior police arrival. During the follow-up investigation conducted by the Wildwood Police Department Uniform and Detective Divisions, a proactive perimeter / surveillance of the immediate area was conducted. As a result of the inquiry, an individual identified as Jesus Aponte-Rosario was stopped in close proximity to the incident location and was detained as a person of interest in connection to the burglary investigation.

Moreover, Aponte-Rosario was eventually identified as one of the individuals involved and arrested for his actions. During the search of Aponte-Rosario, incident to the arrest, it was discovered that he was in possession of narcotics, narcotics paraphernalia, and a weapon (knife). Jesus Aponte-Rosario, is a 32-year-old Hispanic Male, who is an unemployed construction laborer, residing in the Rio Grande section of Middle Township, New Jersey. As a result of the totality of the circumstances surrounding the aforementioned actions specific to the residential burglary, the following criminal charges were issued against Aponte-Rosario, in connection to his individual participation / actions.

Jesus Aponte-Rosario was arrested and charged with burglary (a crime of the third degree), possession of heroin (a crime of the third degree), possession of cocaine (a crime of the third degree), possession of weapon “knife” (a crime of the fourth degree), possession of narcotics paraphernalia (a disorderly persons offense) and possession of a hypodermic syringe (a disorderly persons offense). Jesus Aponte-Rosario was released on a criminal summons complaint, in accordance with the Attorney General Guidelines, promulgated in connection with the Criminal Justice Bail Reform Policies and Directives.
