UPDATE on Greenbrier Substation: Switching to GE's substation has restored power to a portion of customers impacted

UPDATE on Greenbrier Substation:

  • Switching to GE's substation has restored power to a portion of the customers impacted.
  • The mobile transformer is on-site, and crews are working to get it hooked up. Electric Dept. Manager Blair Davis hopes to get a timeframe on that soon, which will restore power to the remaining 1,950 customers.
  • About 3,500 customers in the Swancott area and along County Line Road experienced power outages around 12:45 a.m. this morning after weather-related damage to a power transformer at the Greenbrier Substation. Lightning struck the transformer during Saturday's severe weather or during lightning that occurred during Sunday's winter storm.
  • Crews have been out all weekend repairing infrastructure damaged by both storm systems and continue to work this evening to restore power to those impacted by the transformer damage.
