Happy New Year! I hope everyone had an opportunity to enjoy some time with family and friends over the past week.
 
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 surge continues; in order to help our residents remain healthy and safe, we are pleased to announce that we will be holding another vaccine/booster clinic on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. The clinic will be open from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the Leonia Recreation Center, 370 Broad Ave. in Leonia. The FDA and CDC have now approved the COVID-19 booster for anyone 12 years of age and older who received their initial vaccine series at least five months from the date of the booster (two months for J&J) – so this is a PERFECT opportunity for you to bring your entire family in for their boosters, as we have fully replenished our Pfizer and Moderna inventory.

The following vaccines/boosters will be available:

• Pfizer pediatric: Authorized for ages 5-11 (first vaccine only – boosters are not authorized)
• Pfizer: Authorized for ages 12 and over, both for first vaccine and boosters.
• Moderna: Authorized for adults 18 years of age and older, both for first vaccine and boosters.

As a reminder, you are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine or booster injection at this clinic if you are;

• 5-11 years of age and have never received a COVID-19 vaccine; or;
• 18 years of age or older and have never received a COVID-19 vaccine; or;
• 12 years of age or older and received the Pfizer vaccine five (5) months ago or longer (to receive booster); or;
• 18 years of age or older and received the Moderna vaccine five (5) months ago or longer (to receive booster); or;
• 18 years of age or older and received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine two (2) months ago or longer (to receive booster).

The Omicron COVID-19 variant continues to cause exponential increases in the number of COVID-19 cases across the country, especially here in New Jersey. Today (January 6, 2022) New Jersey is reporting 27,404 new cases (record number), 106 COVID-19-related deaths and a transmission rate of 1.69. All 21 New Jersey counties are at the highest risk level (“severe”).
 
The best defense against contracting COVID-19 is to ensure that you and all eligible members of your family are fully vaccinated and/or have received a booster (if eligible). Boosters are now approved for anyone 12 and over, so now is the perfect time to get them!
