El Cerrito Police Department Blotter December 31st to January 2nd, 2022

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
 
December 31st

Residential Burglary – 2900 block of Carlson Blvd:
At 12:09pm, an officer reports that an unknown suspect cut the lock to the victim’s garage, entered his unlocked vehicle, and stole $20 and a jacket.

Possession of a Stolen Vehicle – 1700 Block of Eastshore Blvd:
At 7:25 pm an officer pulled over a vehicle for not having a rear license plate attached and when the officer ran the Vehicle Identification Number through Dispatch he was informed the vehicle was reported stolen out of San Francisco.  Both people in the vehicle were placed under arrest and the vehicle was impounded to be returned to its owner.  The occupants were booked at ECPD and then issued citations and released after booking. 

Battery – Moeser Lane / BART path:
At 10:54 pm an officer was sent to the report that someone had just been assaulted.  It was determined that as the victim was walking the suspect came up behind them and forcefully grabbed the victim by the hair.  The victim was able to get away from the suspect and ran away.   

January 1st

Battery – 9949 San Pablo Avenue (Crown Bar):
At 12:54 am officers were dispatched to the report that several people aggressively approached a subject inside the bar because they did not like them.  Feeling threatened, the subject pulled out some pepper spray and deployed it on 2-3 people. 

Shoplifting – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):
At 9:37am, an officer reports that two unknown suspects stole $500 worth of nicotine patches and gum from the business.

 January 2nd

Vandalism, Warrant Arrest – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 11:35am, an officer reports a 41-year old Fairfield male used a broken piece of glass to put two scratches into Fire Engine #65 while it was parked in front of the business. The male had two outstanding warrants stemming from a previous El Cerrito arrest and a San Diego County arrest. The male was booked at ECPD and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen Vehicle – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 2:55pm, an officer reports that an unknown suspect stole the victim’s Chevy Silverado between 2:30-2:45pm.

Stolen Vehicle – 1337 Navellier Street:
At 6:22 pm an officer was dispatched to the report of a vehicle theft that had occurred over the last several days.
