JPD – Dangers of Gun Crimes

Law enforcement officers routinely address various dangerous and stressful situations in the line of duty every day. One of the many dangers are gun crimes and dealing with armed subjects.
 
On December 23rd, 2021 at 6:00 pm Officers had contact with an armed felon, Curtis T Walker (35 years old, Janesville resident) at 238 Madison St. Walker had a felony probation warrant out for his arrest. Officers went to the residence looking for him. Walker was located and resisted initial attempts by officers to take him into custody. Officers were able to overcome Walker’s resistance. A lawful search of Walker once he was taken into custody resulted in the discovery of a handgun in his waistband. Walker was arrested on the following charges:
 
    941.29(1M)(A) – Felon in Possession of a Firearm
    946.41(1) – Resisting or Obstructing an Officer
    961.41(1M)(CM)1R – Possession w/ Intent to Deliver Cocaine
    961.41(1M)(E)4 – Possession w/ Intent to Deliver Amphetamine
    961.41(1M)(H)1 – Possession w/ Intent to Deliver THC
    943.34(B)(1) – Receiving Stolen Property
    973.10(1) – Probation Violation
 
On January 7th, 2022 at 12:22 am Janesville Police Officers had an encounter with an armed and intoxicated person in the 900 block of Rockport Rd. Officers were sent to a suspicious vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle and made contact Michael K Hudson (35 years old, Town of Plymouth resident) sitting inside it. While one officer was in contact with Hudson at the driver’s side window a second officer standing near the passenger side window noticed Hudson attempting to conceal a handgun near the center console.
 
Hudson was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested for the following charges:
 
   346.63(1)(a) – OWI 2nd Offense
   941.23 – Carrying a Concealed Weapon
   941.20(1)(b) – Endangering Safety by Use of a Dangerous
                           Weapon
