Jan 9th Ice Storm - Expect Possible Ice in the AM making travel very dangerous.
Storm Update: January 9th Ice Storm.
Please be very careful Sunday morning as a layer of ice may be covering all roads. Our road crews have prepared as much as possible but when freezing rain hits the ground, it will freeze to cold road surfaces. Please stay inside if you see wet road conditions and avoid unnecessary travel. Lets keep the furry ones under the blankets for this one!
This will be the last report for this storm.
Stay safe & warm!!!!!
Chief Garofalo
- Timing: 7AM to 1PM Sunday.
- Olaf Index: 0, No Snow
- Dorothy Index: 1, Small dogs should be inside safe and warm as with all our furry ones but this is not a wind event in our area.
- Elsa Index:8, We will have freezing temperatures. Everything and Everyone should be inside.
- Roads: Extreme Caution. Freezing rain causing a "light Glaze" will make roads impassable in the AM. Allow the sun in the early afternoon to assist with heating the road surface. If the road is wet, assume it is ice and you will not be able to control your vehicle.

Preparedness:
- Residents are urged to stay away from any downed wires, and treat all downed wires as “live” even if power appears to be out in the area.
- Prevention Carbon Monoxide Poisoning - Do not run any fuel-powered generators in a garage or other enclosed space or near windows. This is a good time to test battery-powered smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

Carbon Monoxide
Any gas appliance can be a source of carbon monoxide, a dangerous gas that deprives the body of oxygen, resulting in serious injury or death. Don't use a gas stove as a source of heat, as this increases the likelihood of carbon monoxide poisoning. Make sure the stove is vented to the outside and the vent it not blocked. Install a carbon monoxide detector in homes where gas appliances, including gas stoves, are being used.
