Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting of two men in South Los Angeles. The incident was reported Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at approximately 9:00 p.m., on the 11400 block of Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles.
South Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the retail center located on the southwest corner of Vermont Avenue and Imperial Highway regarding a gunshot victim call.
Upon arriving, deputies discovered the two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. A 33 year old Black male victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. A second victim, a 21 year old Hispanic male, was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for gunshot wound injuries. He is listed in stable condition.
Investigators learned the victims were standing in the parking lot of the retail center when a dark colored sedan parked on the west curb line of South Vermont Avenue. Four male suspects, unknown race, exited the car and walked into the parking lot. At least two of the suspects opened fire on the victims before the four suspects ran to and entered the black sedan before speeding away southbound South Vermont Avenue.
There is no further description of the suspects or the sedan. The murder weapon remains outstanding.
It is unknown if this shooting is gang related.
