Crime Alert Bulletin covering the week of January 3-9, 2022

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Tuesday, 01-04-22, at approximately 6:46 p.m., Officer Reininger was dispatched to the 1000 block of San Luis Circle on a noise complaint. The noise was coming from an Acura RL. The driver was contacted, and Officer Reininger noticed an open beer can in the vehicle. Officer Reininger asked if he could search the suspect’s vehicle. After receiving consent to search, Officer Reininger found a metal container that contained a “dope kit” in the rear passenger side area. The “dope kit” had a rubber band used as a tourniquet, needles, a torch/lighter, and two baggies containing heroin. The suspect, a 33-year old Daly City resident, was cited for possession of a controlled substance.

On Wednesday, 01-05-22, at approximately 3:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of South Hill Boulevard on a call of a possible prowler, followed by a power shortage to the victim’s residence shortly after. Upon arrival, the officers encountered the suspect, a 41-year old transient, in the backyard. The suspect was able to shut off the victim’s power by accessing her outside power circuit breaker. As officers tried to handcuff the suspect, he began to tense up and pull his arms away. After handcuffing the suspect, he was searched. A bindle fashioned from two $10 bills folded together and containing methamphetamine was found in his right-side pants pocket. The suspect was booked into jail for prowling, cutting a utility line, resisting arrest, and possession of a controlled substance.

On Friday, 01-07-22, at approximately 8:32 p.m., Officer Arguelles effected a traffic enforcement stop on a Chevrolet Impala at Hanover Street and Roosevelt Avenue after noticing that the vehicle had no front license plate. The driver, a 25-year old San Francisco resident, was determined to be on federal probation. Officer Arguelles asked if he could search the vehicle. After obtaining consent, Xanax and Adderall pills were found. The suspect was cited for possession of a controlled substance.

On Saturday, 01-08-22, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Officer DeLorenzi was dispatched to the Chevron gas station on John Daly Boulevard on a call about a man with a knife. Upon arrival, the suspect, a 27-year old San Francisco resident, appeared to be under the influence. Due to the suspect’s incoherent state and the outstanding knife, he was handcuffed and escorted outside for questioning. The suspect is on searchable probation. After a pat search of the suspect, a “ToughBuilt” folding knife was found in the suspect’s back right pocket. The suspect had a small satchel around his neck, which contained small plastic bags with white residue in plain sight. After a full probationary search, a discarded needle, foil, cylindrical plastic tubes, and two bags, one containing methamphetamine and the other containing Xanax, were found. The suspect was ultimately cited for possession of a controlled substance and carrying a concealed dirk or dagger.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
