Advisory

Bitter Cold then Winter Storm System Sunday Night with High Winds & Mixed Precipitation into Monday – Be Prepared

Clouds, but dry throughout today. Breezy conditions this afternoon as an Arctic front passes through our area. The result will be dangerously cold conditions tonight with wind chill temperatures below zero. Temperatures will remain in the teens tomorrow, then colder Saturday night. Sunday, we will be impacted with the potential for at least 2 - 4" of snow, mostly Sunday night.  The track of the most severe weather remains uncertain at this time.  Following this precipitation will be warmer air, resulting in snow mixing with and changing to sleet, freezing rain, and plain rain. By Monday morning, most of the precipitation will have ended with the possibility of a wintry mix and drizzle as the system exits by afternoon. Anticipate hazardous road conditions, windy conditions, and difficult travel. Monitor local weather reports, forecasts, and remain off roadways when they are hazardous for everyone’s safety, and to enable Highway Crews to maintain them.
Be prepared for power outages.  Report hazards promptly to the North Castle Police Department at (914) 273-9500.  This includes fallen trees, limbs, and wires down.
Report power outages directly to Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED, or online through your customer account. Con Edison customers can sign up for text notifications at www.conEd.com/text. Customers can also text REG to OUTAGE (688243) and follow the prompts. You will need to enter your Con Edison account number to complete the registration process. Once you've registered, you will not need your account number to report or check the status of a power problem.
Be cognizant of the potential for falling trees and limbs as well as downed electric wires.
Never touch or drive over any wires; always assume they are live and can kill you.
Do not remove or drive around Police barricades.  They are in place to keep you safe!
If you rely on a generator, be aware of the hazards of carbon monoxide.
Stay safe.
