Petaluma Police Department Press Release - Display of a Deadly Weapon and Conspiracy
On January 15th, 2022, at 2:35 AM, Petaluma Police Officers responded to the 500 block of E Washington Street to a report of a person brandishing a firearm. Officers arrived on scene and learned two subjects, later identified as Pedro Riveros and Marco Martinez-Rodriguez, were causing a disturbance at a business. Prior to the arrival of officers, Riveros and Martinez-Rodriguez fled the area in a vehicle. As it drove off, the victim reported a firearm was being waived around in the interior compartment of the vehicle.
The victim provided a description of the vehicle, and Petaluma Police Officers located the vehicle nearby with two occupants inside. Both Riveros and Martinez-Rodriguez were positively identified by the victim and taken into custody without incident. Riveros and Martinez-Rodriguez were later booked in Sonoma County Jail for 417(a)(2) PC and 182(a)(1) PC.
Officers were unbale to locate the firearm during a search incident to arrest or during an extensive search of the surrounding area. The Petaluma Police Department takes all investigations involving a firearm very seriously and urges the community to report any misuse or threat involving a firearm immediately.
