INCIDENT: 2022-1467 Special Investigation: Duplex Residential Structure Fire

DETAILS: On Saturday January 15, 2022 at 5:01 pm, Ptl. LaForge was detailed to a residential duplex on Millstone Road that was on fire. Upon his arrival, he met with one of the residents who advised Ptl. LaForge that all occupants of both residential units were believed to not be inside of either unit. The above listed respective Fire Companies responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
PSEG responded to the scene to cease power/gas to the structure. The WW Construction Official responded to the scene and deemed both units as uninhabitable. The American Red Cross arrived to assist with victims. Millstone Road was closed for approximately 3.5 Hours as a result of this incident and the fire extinguishing.
The Fire Investigation is ongoing between the WWPD Detective Bureau and the WW Division of Emergency Services. The initial determination was that the fire was not suspicious. It should be noted that no injuries were reported or observed to residents and/or any First Responders. One family pet, a cat, also went unscathed during the incident. The American Red Cross was assisting with shelter for the displaced.
NOTE: Chief Garofalo & Chief Lynch wished to extend their gratitude for the many agencies that assisted in this collectve effort on a very bitterly cold night and were thankful there were no injuries reported.
