Advisory

Weather Advisory: Accumulating snow may result in snow covered and icy roads for the Thursday morning commute.

Weather Advisory: SNOW (January 20th) A quick moving system is expected to bring a period of light rain tonight changing to light snow early Thursday, potentially impacting the Thursday morning commute with slippery road conditions.

Accumulating snow may result in snow covered and icy roads for the Thursday morning commute. Snow should end by midday into early afternoon. Winter weather advisory is in effect from 5am to 1pm Thursday for snowfall accumulations of up to 2 inches. Monitor local weather reports, forecasts, and remain off roadways when they are hazardous for everyone’s safety, and to enable Highway Department crews to maintain them.

Con Ed customers can report downed power lines, outages, and check service restoration status at www.conEd.com or by calling 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633).

Please do not call the Police Department to report loss of power. This potentially ties up telephone lines available for emergencies and you will be referred to contact Con Ed directly. Treat all downed wires as if they are live. Be mindful that downed wires can be hidden from view by tree limbs, leaves, or snow.

In the event of life threatening emergencies, dial 911. Call North Castle Police at 914-273-9500 for any non-life threatening matters, traffic issues, downed trees, etc.

If you plan to use a generator, make sure that it is being used safely. Do not run a portable generator inside of your home or business; keep it outside and away from the house so that the exhaust does not cause anyone to become sick with carbon monoxide poisoning. Keep combustible materials away from the generator and, when refueling, turn it off and let it cool down. Additional generator safety tips are available HERE.

We also remind residents not to leave vehicles parked on the street during the overnight hours. Vehicles may be summoned and possibly towed if they hinder snow removal:  “No vehicle shall be allowed or permitted to be parked, stored or kept unattended on any Town highway or other highway within the Town of North Castle from 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. during the period from November 15 to April 1.”

Please encourage your neighbors to sign up for Nixle alerts.
Stay safe!
