On November 21st the police department began to investigate an incident where a female violated an Order of Protection, by being within 500 feet of a protected residence on Wolcott Circle. The suspect was no longer on scene. The case was submitted to the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office. On December 16th the defendant, Rebecca S. Kern, 51 of Belleville, was charged with felony Violation of an Order of Protection; a Class 4 Criminal Felony, Category A Offense. It was charged as a felony due to Kern having previously been convicted for violating an Order of Protection. Her bond was set at $30,000. She remained at-large.
On December 26th the police department responded to another complaint of Kern violating the order. The defendant was not on the scene. The report was forwarded to the state's attorney's office. On January 5th Kern was charged again with felony Violation of an Order of Protection. An additional $30,000 bond was set. Kern was later located at an address in Belleville, and taken into custody by the Belleville Police Department.
