The Janesville Police Department awarded a Letter of Commendation.
This award is given by the Chief of Police to any employee who performs a particularly noteworthy act of service. The action of the employee must be beyond the normal expectation of duty and based upon a determined and intelligent performance. Officer Ryan Jaremko received a Letter of Commendation for his actions listed below.
On December 5, 2021 at 8:38 PM, officers were dispatched to a disturbance. After investigation of the situation and reaching the suspect on the phone; Officer Jaremko calmly spoke to the suspect for over thirty minutes, and identified that his work and family were important to him. Officer Jaremko used this information to deescalate the situation and convinced the suspect to peacefully surrender to officers.
Officer Jaremko took the time to calmly and deliberately speak with the suspect on the phone. His patience and use of non-escalation tactics brought a peaceful ending to a potential violent and prolonged incident.
Officer Jaremko's performance is deeply appreciated and respected by the police department and the Janesville community. His dedicated efforts have a direct relationship to the level of safety in the City of Janesville. Officer Jaremko strongly supports the mission of the Janesville Police Department.
