Wilmington Police arrest, charge 15-year-old in connection with accidental shooting incident Thursday afternoon:
Wilmington Police have arrested and charged a 15-year-old male in connection with an accidental shooting incident that took place yesterday afternoon.
On Thursday at approximately 3:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the 200 block of West 30th Street, where they located a 14-year-old male gunshot victim inside of a residence. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Shea of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Shea identified a 15-year-old male – who was located by responding officers and taken into custody without incident at the scene – as a suspect. The incident was determined to have been accidental in nature.
The 15-year-old male has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
