El Cerrito Police Department Blotter January 3rd to January 6th 2022.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
 
January 3rd

Injury Hit-and-Run – San Pablo Ave / Carlson Blvd:
At 6:44 pm, an officer reports a pedestrian was struck by a blue Honda CR-V which fled after the accident.

Battery – 225 El Cerrito Plaza (Trader Joes):
At 7:04 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect spit in the face of an employee after the suspect was asked to leave the business.

Robbery – Cutting Blvd / Key Blvd:
At 7:54 pm, an officer spoke with the victim of a robbery which occurred on New Year’s Eve. The victim reports being robbed by two men, one of which was armed with a pistol.     

Assault with a Deadly Weapon – 11101 San Pablo Ave (Wienerschnitzel):
At 9:02 pm, an officer reports two suspects assaulted staff at the restaurant after a disagreement. During the assault, one of the suspects struck the employees with a crowbar and used the object to damage property at the restaurant.
 
January 4th

Petty Theft – 10900 San Pablo Avenue (El Cerrito PD):
At 6:39 pm, officers arrested a 20-year-old man after he was identified as a suspect in two prior cases where man sold bogus goods to unsuspecting victims. The man was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Unauthorized Use of Access Card – 10650 San Pablo Ave (CVS):
At 8:08 pm, an officer reports that an unknown suspect accessed the victim’s account and withdrew money from an ATM inside the business.
                                        
January 5th

Petty Theft – 3200 block of Belmont Avenue:
At 6:27 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the rear license plate from the victim’s vehicle sometime between Christmas Eve and January 5th.

Commercial Burglary, Robbery – 3160 Carlson Boulevard (76Gas):
At 7:23 pm, an officer reports a known suspect used an object to break the glass front door and entered the business. While inside, the suspect took property from the business before fleeing. The suspect has been identified but has not yet been taken into custody.
 
January 6th

Possess Stolen Vehicle, Possess Controlled Substance – San Pablo Ave / Knott Ave:
At 10:09 pm, an officer contacted a 38-year-old male during a traffic stop and located a quantity of methamphetamine in the man’s possession. During further investigation, a motorcycle in the possession of the man was determined to be stolen. The man was arrested and later released from the El Cerrito Police Department.

Vandalism – 600 block of Kearney Street:
At 11:25 pm, an officer arrested a 19-year-old man after the man damaged a vehicle and was found inside the vehicle. The man was arrested and later released from the El Cerrito Police Department.
