Advisory

Winter Weather Emergency Declared for January 23, 2022 Beginning at 4 a.m.

The City of Janesville has declared a winter weather emergency beginning at 4 a.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2022.  A winter weather emergency means that all parked vehicles must be removed from City streets until snow and ice control operations are complete. To ensure that you do not receive a parking ticket, please move all vehicles prior to 4 a.m. and keep them off City streets until 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 23.

Snow and ice accumulations of 2 – 4 inches have been forecast which will require City staff to complete snow and ice control operations. Main and arterial streets will be maintained throughout the duration of the winter weather event. Due to the forecast, City crews will likely perform a City-wide plow following the snowfall. All parked vehicles must be removed from City streets to minimize safety issues for snow and ice removal operations.
The forecast Monday, January 24 is currently calling for an additional 2 – 4 inches of snow and ice accumulations. In the event that the Saturday/Sunday event snow accumulation is on the lower end of the forecast, the winter weather emergency may be rescinded and residential streets would not be plowed due to the likelihood of plowing all City streets on Monday, January 24. Updates to this press release will be issued in the event of operational changes.
