Citizen Tip Results in Meth Arrest
The Rutherford County Unified Narcotics Task Force (UNTF) recently received information from a citizen regarding drug activity at 166 Sid Sims Road in Rutherfordton. Subsequently, the UNTF initiated an investigation with a successful outcome.
On January 25, 2022, Sergeant Tyler Greene with the Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing numerous traffic violations. Mr. Joshua Cuthbertson, age 28, of 166 Sid Sims Road was the driver of the vehicle Sgt. Greene stopped.
During the traffic stop, 164 grams of methamphetamine were found in the vehicle, along with $1,307 in United States Currency. Mr. Cuthbertson was arrested for Trafficking Methamphetamine and Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substances.
Due to the on-going investigation and the traffic stop, the UNTF and the Rutherford County Department of Public Safety executed a search warrant at Mr. Cuthbertson’s residence: 166 Sid Sims Road. That search also resulted in investigators locating and seizing an additional amount of methamphetamine and U.S. currency.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Forest City Police Officer Mark McCracken and his K9 partner, Thor, for their assistance in the investigation.
