Advisory

Winter Snow Storm in the Berkeley Township Area 1/28 thru 1/29, expecting 8"-12". See the BTPD Facebook page for details.

A message from Mayor Amato and the Berkeley Township Office of Emergency Management regarding the winter weather between Friday 1/28 and Saturday 1/29:

Between the 7pm Friday and 7pm Saturday Berkeley Township residents can expect between 8” and 12” of snow. We will most likely see sustained 20-25mph winds with occasional gusts up to 40-50mph. Minor flooding is possible along the coast.

Please stay of the roads during this time period unless it’s absolutely necessary. If you must drive please clean off your vehicle before driving and let someone know where you are going.

Any residents requiring assistance with transportation to a dialysis appointment please contact the Berkeley Township Police Department at 732-341-6600. Please give the police department plenty of notice prior to your appointment. If you have not registered with the Berkeley Township Office of Emergency Management and you have special medical requirements/needs, you can email Michael Tier at [email protected] and get added to OEM’s database.

A reminder for residents, Berkeley Township DPW will not begin plowing until 5” of snow is on the ground. The township will focus on main roads first and then begin clearing secondary/neighborhood roads. An initial pass will be made and the road will be cleared from curb to curb on subsequent passes. Residents can assist in this effort by parking their vehicles in their driveways and when clearing their sidewalks and driveways by not snow-blowing/ shoveling the snow into the roadway. Please be patient with us, as Berkeley is a large township with many miles of roadway.

In the event that your power goes out and you choose to utilize a generator at your home, please see the below listed tips for generator safety. You can also reference this information on the energy.gov website https://www.energy.gov/.../using-portableemergency... .

Lastly, please check and help your neighbors when able. Be careful when shoveling/snow-blowing your property, as injuries occur all of the time when significant snow storms occur.
