The South River Police Department responds to emergency and non-emergency calls at businesses 24 hours a day. Occasionally, it becomes necessary to contact someone from the business outside of business hours. To assist us with having this information available when needed, we maintain a database containing after hours contact phone numbers for business owners and representatives.

How do I register my business?

To register your business, visit southriverpd.org/business-registration and download the business registration form. The completed form can be submitted by emailing it to [email protected], faxing it to 732-613-6103, or dropping it off at our headquarters (61 Main Street, South River, NJ).

When should I register or update my information?

Anytime a new business is opened, business ownership is transferred, there are changes in employment status of listed contacts, or there are changes in positions or job titles of listed contacts. We recommend business owners review this information in January of each year to ensure it is up-to-date. If you are unsure of the information we have on file, a form can be submitted at any time.

Is business registration required?

No. Registering your business with the South River Police Department is 100% voluntary. It is, however, strongly encouraged. Having updated information on file for your business allows us to quickly reach a business owner or representative in the event of an emergency at your business. Examples include burglaries, property damage, fires, water leaks, and unsecured premises.

How is my information stored and used?

Once we receive the information for your business, it is entered and stored in a secure database. In the event it is deemed necessary by first responders on scene, our Communications Center can access the information and quickly reach a business owner or representative.

Will this also register my alarm system?

No. The South River Police Department's business registration is separate from the Borough of South River's alarm registration ordinance. Although it is strongly encouraged, registering your business with us is 100% voluntary. Registering your alarm with the Borough of South River is required under Borough Ordinance Chapter 99. For more information on registering your alarm, please contact the Borough of South River at 732-257-1999.
