Major Winter Storm Update, Emergency Snow Parking, Etc. for Friday January 28-29, 2022.

Major Winter Storm Update, Emergency Snow Parking, Etc. for January 28 - 29, 2022.

Attention residents of the City of Burlington:  we will be experiencing the effects of a major winter storm from late this evening until Saturday afternoon with especially heavy snow.   Please follow special emergency parking instructions by 7pm this evening. Heavy accumulations of snow are possible, which combined with very strong winds, could lead to power outages and tree damage. Residents will need to follow standard snow-parking procedures as well as take special precautions regarding downed limbs and possible live electrical wires.

Residents are also reminded to shovel sidewalks once the snow has ended, and also to keep all hydrants clear in case of a fire emergency.  Please do not shovel snow into streets, which may result in fines being imposed.

Emergency Snow Parking:

If you live in the following emergency route areas, please follow these special parking directions by 7:00 PM tonight 1/28/22:

If you park on High Street or Broad Street, move to municipal lots or other off-street parking.

Also, if you park on Penn Street, Barclay Street, the 400 block of Lawrence Street, or Juniper Street, you will need to move all of your vehicles off the street to allow City plow trucks and emergency personnel to pass through safely during a snowstorm.

If you park on East Federal Street, please move to off-street parking or park on the even-numbered side of the street until plows come through.

In addition, all other residents are asked to move cars from all streets, if possible, or to park on the even-numbered sides of their streets at least 6 hours before storms so that plows can more easily clear the odd-numbered sides of streets first.  After plowing is completed, please move cars to the odd-numbered sides of streets so plows can clear the other sides.  Thank you for your cooperation during this snow emergency.
