Winter Weather Advisory In Effect for Town of Yorktown
National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for our local area through Saturday, January 29, 2022. Snowfall amounts at this time are expected to range from 6"-9" with winds 20-25 mph. Gusts of over 30 mph are expected. Snowfall associated with this storm is expected to begin between 9pm-10pm, with heavy snowfall occurring during overnight hours. The Town of Yorktown and the Yorktown Police Department request:
--Please do not park on local roadways. While Winter Overnight Parking Restrictions are in effect from 1am-7am through April, once snowfall begins, we ask that all vehicles be parked off road. Let our Highway Department work safely to clear local roadways.
--That all outages are reported to your respective utility provider. Coned.com or Nyseg.com. Have your account number available
--When removing snow, please do not place snow in the roadway. If observed, you may receive a summons for doing so.
--Report all life threatening or emergency conditions to the Yorktown Police Department at 914-962-4141 or 911 in an emergency.
--After the storm, please remember to shovel out fire hydrants.
Now is the time to check on vulnerable loved ones or neighbors. Gas up generators, fully charge cell phones and have batteries available for flashlights. Nixle updates will be provided if needed.
