Emergency Registry message from the Department of Human Services:
This is a courtesy call from Westport's Department of Human Services to those pre-registered with our department.   Westport is expecting a powerful Nor'Easter forecasted to begin before daybreak and continue until Saturday evening. Depending on the storm's track, our area may experience heavy snow, strong winds, and coastal flooding with a risk of power outages.
Please take precautions to ensure that you have enough food, water, medications, and other essentials to last you several days after the storm. 
Contact family members, friends, and neighbors to review your emergency plans and inform them where you will be during and after a storm.
 
Please avoid traveling during and after the storm.
 
If you lose power, contact your utility company directly.
 
Please only call 911 for genuine medical emergencies.
 
Don't forget to charge your phone, put your refrigerator and freezer to their lowest temperature settings, and have a battery-powered radio available in case of power outages.
 
Always keep a flashlight, batteries, and extra warm clothing or blanket(s) nearby.
 
Please follow the weather forecast by checking local TV News Channel 12; and local radio reports. Follow the town's social media accounts www.westportct.gov for the latest updates and emergency instructions should they become necessary.
