Advisory

STATE OF EMERGENCY EFFECTIVE 5:00 PM TONIGHT, JANUARY 28, 2022 - WINTER STORM KENAN

Governor Murphy has declared a state of emergency beginning 5:00 PM tonight, January 28th, due to a winter storm expected Friday evening through Saturday. Our area is under a winter storm warning forecasting 6 to 12 inches of snow with wind gusts up to 50 MPH.

By declaring a state of emergency, the Governor urges all nonessential personnel to stay off the roads so not to interfere with law enforcement and emergency responders.

Please allow the Borough DPW crews to plow the streets. There is no parking on Borough streets when the streets are covered in snow. There is no police approved parking tonight, January 28th due to the snow. If you have already been approved for multiple nights, you are still required to move your vehicle or may receive a summons.

Once the storm is over, please clear a path from the fire hydrant to the street plus a three-foot radius around the fire hydrant that is on or adjacent to your property. NJ state law requires property owners clear snow from fire hydrants within 24 hours after a snowstorm. Failure to comply, may result in fines up to $75.00.

Please shovel the full width of your sidewalk area including your driveway apron. Shoveling must be done within twenty-four (24) hours after the snow has stopped. Do not throw snow into the street.

Remember to remove all ice and snow from your vehicle before driving, especially from the hood, windows, and roof. This is NJ state law.
Due to heavy snow the recycling center will be closed Saturday, January 29, 2022.

All NJ Transit bus service is suspended Saturday, January 29th. Main-Bergen County Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule for as long as weather safely permits. Residents are encouraged to monitor njtransit.com or the NJ Transit mobile app for the latest service information.

The combination of snow and wind may cause downed trees and power lines. To report power outages, please call PSE&G - 1-800-436-7734.
