Winter Storm #Kenan – Friday PM Update

Winter Storm #Kenan – Friday PM Update

Forecast (via Tri-State Storm Watch):

No major changes since the Friday morning forecast, with 12-18" of total accumulation. Light snow has already started, with heavier snow to pick up by 10:00pm tonight. Strong winds with gusts up to 50mph will cause blowing snow and reduced visibility. Minor coastal flooding is possible during high tides.

Recommendations:

• Snow Parking Regulations have started as of 7:00pm with the snow emergency declaration. It is recommended that residents park off the street if possible, but if not, you must park in accordance with the ordinance. For the majority of Neptune Township, this means you are only permitted to park on the odd-numbered sides of the street. For most of Ocean Grove, there is no parking where indicated by signs or where otherwise indicated in the snow parking ordinances, which can be found here: https://neptunetownship.org/departments/weather-emergencies
• A Blizzard Warning is in effect for our area, meaning we are expecting heavy snow accompanied by strong winds. This will drastically reduce visibility on the roads. Residents are urged to avoid all travel during the storm and limit travel on Sunday to essential only, so that DPW can properly clear the roads.
• Due to strong winds, power outages are possible. Keep electronics charged and report all power outages to JCP&L. See below for contact information.
• Please be patient, our Public Works Department is already on the road and will continue to work around the clock until all Township roads are clear. Due to the duration of the storm, amount of snow, cold and strong winds we are expecting cleanup to go into Sunday evening. Stay off the roads as much as possible to allow DPW room to work.
