Incident Summary-
On 1/30/2022, at approximately 10:17 p.m., a Petaluma patrol officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle when he observed the motorcycle did not have a license plate. The rider did not yield, and a vehicle pursuit was initiated on Lakeville Hwy. The rider continued onto northbound Hwy 101 from the Lakeville onramp. The rider accelerated and reached speeds estimated to be in excess of 100 mph as he passed the East Washington exit. The pursuit was terminated.
A short time later, another officer, who was positioned on the Hwy 101 northbound onramp at Old Redwood Hwy, observed the motorcycle continue northbound on Hwy 101. Although not in pursuit, she proceeded northbound on Hwy 101 with the intent of taking the next exit and returning to Petaluma. As she proceeded northbound towards the Cotati Grade, she observed the motorcycle (and rider), later identified as Julio Cesar Munoz Guzman, down in the roadway. Paramedics responded to the scene to render aid to Guzman who had sustained multiple injuries. During the investigation Guzman displayed signs of alcohol intoxication. Guzman was transported to a local hospital where he was admitted for his (non-life threatening) injuries. CHP arrived on scene and assumed control of the traffic collision investigation. Guzman was arrested for (felony) evading and (misdemeanor) DUI. Because he was being admitted to the hospital, Guzman was issued a citation to appear in court for the above listed offenses.
