Simi Valley resident arrested for battery on a police officer and illegally possessing an unregistered, loaded firearm. 
On January 20, 2022, at about 9:00 pm, Simi Valley Police patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle due to the driver unlawfully using his cell phone. During the contact with the driver (20 year old Simi Valley resident Jack Ballat), it was discovered he was unlawfully in possession of an unregistered, loaded firearm.
Ballat was detained as a result of the investigation and during that time he deliberately spat on one of the officers.
Ballat was ultimately arrested for the following charges:
- 25850(a) PC- Carrying a Loaded Firearm
- 25852(c)(6) PC- Carrying an Unregistered Loaded Firearm
-25400(a)(1) PC- Carrying a Concealed Firearm in a Vehicle
-32310(a) PC- Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine
-243(c)(2) PC- Battery on a Peace Officer.
Ballat was later booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for the listed charges.
