HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – January 31, 2022– The Hollister Police Department arrested a wanted man after a vehicle pursuit on January 25, 2022.

On January 25, 2022, Officer Julio Martinez was working patrol when he observed a vehicle driving recklessly in the area of Meridian St. near the intersection of Highway 25. The vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic while traveling westbound on Meridian St., and then turned in front of westbound traffic to turn north on SR-25.

Officer Martinez recognized the driver as Daniel Perez, a 24 year old Hollister resident, and knew that he had warrants for his arrest.

Officer Martinez attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop in the area of SR-25 north of Meridian St. Perez chose not to stop and led police on a short pursuit. Perez nearly lost control of his his vehicle in the area of SR-25 at Santa Ana Rd. That maneuver caused Perez to have mechanical difficulties leading to a small collision with a curb in the area of Falconi Way and Harbor Ct. Perez was taken into custody without incident.

A search of the vehicle resulted in Perez being charged with drug sales and drug paraphernalia offenses. In addition, Perez had seven (7) outstanding warrants for his arrest with charges including possession of a concealed and loaded firearm, possession of a gun by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon in public, a Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) violation warrant, and a prior pursuit.
