El Cerrito Police Investigating Homicide 
On January 31, 2022 at 1422 hours, El Cerrito Patrol officers responded to the El Cerrito Public Library located at 6510 Stockton Avenue regarding the report of a possible deceased person. Upon arrival, officers and paramedics found the subject of the call and he was declared dead at the scene. The deceased person is a man who was experiencing homelessness and appeared to have a traumatic injury.
The Contra Costa Coroner will be conducting an autopsy to assist with the investigation. The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin. The case is currently being investigated as a homicide.
