Crime Blotter for the Week of January 23 - January 29, 2022

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of January 23, 2022 - January 29, 2022.        

January 23, 2022

  • No significant activity.

January 25, 2022
  • Grand Theft Auto:
1600 Block of Shepherd Drive. On 01/25/22 at 4:22 am the victims blue 2013 Subaru Outback was stolen. Video surveillance shows an unknown suspect wearing a dark beanie, gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and shoes. Black 27 speed mountain bike left at scene. Vehicle recovered by Arcadia PD with no one in custody.
  • Burglary (Commercial):
2187 Huntington Drive (Coin Laundry). On 01/25/22 at 3:33 am an unknown suspect wearing a blue sweater and dark colored pants was observed on video surveillance shattering the front window and entering the location. Once inside, the suspect is observed prying open a small hole into the rear security door, where he is able to open the door setting of the security alarm. Suspect proceeds to run out of the location without taking anything. Damage estimated to be approximately $1,200.
  • Burglary (Commercial):
1401 Highland Avenue (California School of Arts). On 01/25/22 at 5:30 am Deputies responded to the location on a burglary alarm call. While clearing the location, a male Hispanic adult was detained inside with stolen property. Suspect arrested.

CRIME PREVENTION TIPS FOR SENIORS
 
Walking:
  • If you are a victim of a crime during your walk, make as much noise as possible by calling for help or blowing a whistle. Do not pursue your attacker. Call 911 and report the crime as soon as possible.
  • Avoid walking alone at night. Try to have a friend accompany you in a high-risk area, even during the daytime.
  • Always plan your route and stay alert to your surroundings. Walk confidently.
  • Have a companion accompany you.
  • Walk in well-lighted areas.
  • Have your key ready when approaching your front door.
  • Carry only what you need during your walks, don’t carry large, bulky shoulder bags or a purse. Make sure to carry a cellphone.
