A sharp snowfall gradient is expected across the Chicago metropolitan area and Illinois River Valley, with the highest amounts farther south. The highest snowfall rates, in excess of one inch per hour, will occur late tonight through Wednesday morning. * WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast Illinois. * WHEN...From 8 PM this evening to 6 PM CST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel will become very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes on Wednesday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Additional, mainly light snow, may continue beyond the current end time of the Winter Storm Warning into Thursday.
