Homicide Update – El Cerrito Police Department 2022-00000200
 
On January 31^st, at approximately 1422 hours, the El Cerrito Police Department and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the report of a subject who appeared to be deceased at the El Cerrito Library located at 6510 Stockton Avenue.  Upon arrival, officers located the victim, Daniel Leo Vigil III, 47 years old, on the exterior front entrance patio to the library.  His death is being investigated as a homicide.  Mr. Vigil appeared to have experienced homelessness in the time leading up to his death.  The El Cerrito Police Department is seeking the assistance from the community in the pursuit of justice for Mr. Vigil.  If you have any information regarding his death or saw him around the last few days in the area of the library, please contact the El Cerrito Police Department Investigations Unit.  This may include the area around Centennial Park where he may have frequented.  He was known to push a baby stroller and wear a Raider’s baseball cap.  We are also asking members of the public who have video surveillance to check their cameras in the area.  The link to share video is attached below.
