Freezing Rain Thursday Night Through Friday
- Periods of moderate to locally heavy rain will develop on Thursday, and between 1 and 2 inches of rain will fall through Friday. This, combined with rapid snow melt will result in localized flooding, especially in portions of southeast PA and NJ.
- Rain changes to freezing rain Thursday night in the southern Poconos, and then freezing rain spreads south through Friday. Between 0.25 and 0.50 inches is possible in the southern Poconos, then up to 0.25 inches of ice possible in Lehigh Valley and northern NJ. Up to 0.10 inches of ice possible in southeast PA and southern NJ.
- Tree and power line damage could result in power outages in southern Poconos. Travel conditions will be dangerous. Elsewhere, power outages will be more localized, but dangerous travel conditions are possible.
- Any standing water on area roads is likely to freeze as temperatures plummet below freezing Friday night.
