Advisory

Winter Weather Advisory Tomorrow, Friday; Both Commutes Challenging & Garbage Pickup Time Earlier

Weather - There is a slow moving winter weather frontal system bringing the potential for heavy precipitation (rain and a wintry mix) to the region later today into Friday 2/4/22. Currently, the highest threat for a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain exists across interior portions of the Lower Hudson Valley late tonight into Friday, where a winter weather advisory has been issued.  Rain today will change to sleet and snow as temperatures drop below freezing tonight into tomorrow. At this point, there is not expected to be a significant accumulation of snow and sleet in our area. However, freezing temperatures Friday may result in snow accumulation of 1” or more on top of a sleet and ice coating. Dangerous travel conditions are a primary concern, with the potential for ice and later snow accumulation adversely affecting both commutes Friday.

Please plan ahead, monitor weather forecast, and plan your commute accordingly.  It is best to remain off the roadways as much as possible during these winter weather events.

Garbage – in an effort to pick up garbage throughout our community that has Friday pickup, Suburban Carting plans to begin Friday morning’s garbage collection before 7 am.

Con Ed customers can report downed power lines, outages, and check service restoration status at www.conEd.com or by calling 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633).

Please do not call the Police Department to report loss of power. This potentially ties up telephone lines available for emergencies and you will be referred to contact Con Ed directly. Treat all downed wires as if they are live. Be mindful that downed wires can be hidden from view by tree limbs, leaves, or snow.

In the event of life threatening emergencies, dial 911. Call North Castle Police at 914-273-9500 for any non-life threatening matters, traffic issues, downed trees, etc.
