"Cat Crusaders" Task Force recovers 41 catalytic converters, 9 firearms and $10,000 cash in operation!

On Wednesday, February 2, 2022, the Antelope Valley Cat Crusaders conducted an operation that resulted in the recovery of 41 catalytic converters, 9 firearms, a kit to manufacture ghost guns and $10,000 in cash.

One male adult was arrested for grand theft, receiving stolen property and being in possession of the ghost gun manufacturing kit. He was transported and booked at Lancaster Station on a $20,000 bail.
The AV Cat Crusaders is a joint task force comprised of detectives from both Lancaster Sheriff’s Station and Palmdale Sheriff’s Station. The detectives on the task force dedicate themselves exclusively to combating catalytic converter thefts.

Lancaster Sheriff’s Station encourages residents to contact Detective Gelardo with any information regarding possible cat converter thieves in the area. Detective Gelardo can be reached at (661) 940-3871 or by email at [email protected].

Catalytic converter thefts are very difficult to prevent. Detectives remind residents to park their vehicles in a secured garage whenever possible. Do all you can to ensure you are not a victim of a crime.
