El Cerrito Police Department Blotter January 28th to January 30th 2022.


The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
 
January 28th
Grand Theft – 10057 San Pablo Ave. 
Between 9:10 am and 9:25 am, an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle. 

Stolen vehicle – 10800 block of San Pablo Avenue:
At 8:49 pm an officer went to the report that the victim’s vehicle was stolen sometime during the day. 
January 29th
Delaying or obstructing a Police Officer – San Pablo Avenue at Eastshore Blvd: 
At 1:15 am an officer attempted to stop a subject for committing a vehicle code violation.  The subject would not stop and was found to be carrying an axe.  Other officers arrived on scene and the person eventually stopped and put down the axe.  He was placed under arrest for Delaying or Obstructing and violating his probation.  The axe was confiscated and the subject was issued a citation and released. 

Stolen Vehicle – 10800 block of San Pablo Avenue:
At 3:39 am an officer went to the report that the victim’s vehicle was stolen sometime earlier in the evening.   
 
Negligent discharge of a firearm – Blake St. / Liberty St.
At 5:10 pm, officers were dispatched to the area after callers stated they heard 4-5 gunshots.  Officers circulated the area and located spent shell casings near the intersection.  After a thorough check of the area, officers were unable to locate any additional evidence or involved parties.  
January 30th
Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Avenue at Wall Avenue:
At 1:09 am an officer pulled a vehicle over and after an investigation determined the driver was intoxicated.  The driver was arrested and booked at ECPD.  He was also found to have a warrant for his arrest issued by Santa Clara County.  He was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Public Intoxication – San Pablo Avenue at Wall Avenue:
During the above arrest the passenger in the vehicle, who was also intoxicated, refused to call anybody to come and pick him up so he was placed under arrest.  He was booked at ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.   

Trespassing – 1000 block of Contra Costa Dr. 
At 9:10 am, the owner of a residence called for a security check of her property because she found evidence that an unknown suspect forced their way into the residence.  Officers conducted a security check of the interior and located a 43-year-old transient man and a 38-year-old transient woman.  Officers accepted the citizen’s arrest of the pair. They were removed from the property, cited, and released from the scene.
