Pedestrian Crash Results in Fatality

For Immediate Release: February 4, 2022

An Absecon man, Samuel Bayley, 50, died from injuries after being struck by a vehicle just after 6:00 PM at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 (White Horse Pike) and Haddon Avenue.

Officers responded to the call Monday, January 24, 2022 and located the pedestrian and vehicle involved. Investigators learned that a 2008 Hyundai Tucson, operated by Jessica Shannon, 41, of Atco, NJ was traveling east on U.S. Route 30 and struck the 50-year-old man as he was crossing the intersection.

Investigators determined the pedestrian was not in the crosswalk, which was a contributing factor in the crash. The roadway was reduced to one lane for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated.

Any witnesses to the crash are urged to contact the Absecon Police Department, Traffic Safety Unit at (609) 641-0667 ext. 858.
