The Police Department has been received multiple complaints about parking infractions on Ocean Gate Ave and surrounding streets. Many of these infractions cause sightline issues preventing motorists and pedestrians from obtaining an accurate view when trying to cross or turn onto the roadway. We have also received complaints of vehicles parked too close to stop signs and fire hydrants. Starting today the OGPD will begin issuing warnings for these infractions and will increase to summonses in the future. Aggressive enforcement will take place at the intersection of Ocean Gate Ave and East/West Bayview Ave and surrounding streets.
In an effort to educate our residents and visitors below are the parking statutes per state law.
New Jersey State Statue 39:4-138 (Parking Prohibited)
Subsection;
(A) In an intersection
(B) On a crosswalk;
(C) Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or within at least 20 feet of a point on the curb immediately opposite the end of a safety zone;
(D) In front of a public or private driveway;
(E) (1) Within 25 feet of the nearest crosswalk or sideline of a street or intersecting highway, or (2)Within 10 feet of the nearest crosswalk or sideline of a street or intersecting highway, if a curb extension or bulb-out has been constructed at that crosswalk;
(F) On a sidewalk
(G) In any appropriately marked "No Parking" space
(H) Within 50 feet of a "stop" sign
(I) Within 10 feet of a fire hydrant;
