During the week of January 31 - February 6, one life was lost to violence. The Oakland Police Department (OPD) has investigated 10 homicides this year, compared to 15 this time last year.
For the week, there were 51 instances of gunfire. OPD officers recovered 151 firearms this year, up 70%. There were 34 robberies and nine carjackings.
We must come together as a city to end the violence in our community. If you see something, say something.!!
OPD encourages residents and business owners to consider installing security cameras as well as alarms. These technologies can both deter crime and help solve crimes after they occur.
