14-year-old Shoots Himself in the Leg while Watching a Basketball Game

INCIDENT: Negligent Discharge of a Firearm
LOCATION: 6500 block of Smoke Tree Ave, Twentynine Palms
SUBJECT(S): 14-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms
SUMMARY: On February 7, 2022, at approximately 6:58 p.m., deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Station responded to the 6500 block of Smoke Tree Avenue for a report of gunshots fired. Deputies learned a 14-year-old subject who was watching the basketball game shot himself in his left leg with a handgun. After the shooting occurred the subject quickly left the scene. He was later located in the 6400 block of Desert Queen Avenue. The subject was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center to be treated for his non-life threatening wounds.
