Crime Blotter for the Week of January 30 - February 5, 2022

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of January 30, 2022 - February 05, 2022.        
 
January 30, 2022

  • Burglary (Vehicle):
1000 Las Lomas Road (Ranch Duarte Golf Course). On 01/30/22 between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm suspect(s) unknown shattered the rear passenger side window to the victims 2019 gray Nissan Altima and stole the victims “SAK” purse. Loss was approximately $300, and damages estimated to be approximately $300. No surveillance video available.      
 
January 31, 2022
  • Grand Theft:
800 Block of Beckville Street. Between 01/30/22 4:00 pm and 01/31/22 1:30 pm suspect(s) unknown stole the Catalytic Converter to the victims 2018 gray Toyota Tacoma. Loss was approximately $1,500. No surveillance video available.
  • Burglary (Commercial):
1801 Highland Avenue (GLX Helmet). On 01/31/22 at 5:24 am an unknown suspect wearing a light-colored shirt and pants was seen on video surveillance entering the unlocked door of the locations lobby. While inside the location, he smashed a hole in the wall where he proceeded into the warehouse and stole a laptop. Loss was approximately $2,500 and damages estimated to be approximately $2,000.  
 
February 01, 2022

February 02, 2022
  • Aggravated Assault (Domestic violence):
930 Hamilton Road (Subway). On 02/02/22 at 7:30 pm the Victim was at the location when her boyfriend stopped by to visit. While waiting for the victim, he asked to use her cell phone. Shortly after, the victim told the suspect she wanted to end their relationship. The suspect became angry and smashed the victim’s phone on the ground. The victim walked out of the business and the suspect followed her. The suspect proceeded to push the victim up against the business and began to strangle her. The victim walked back into the business after getting free from the suspect where she began to call “911”. The suspect followed the victim inside the location, where he continued his assault on the victim and then stole her backpack and left the location. 
 
February 03, 2022
  • Grand Theft Auto (Attempt):
1400 Block of Highland Avenue. On 02/03/22 between 9:00 am and 6:16 pm suspect(s) unknown forced entry into the victims white 2001 Chevy Tahoe and punched the ignition and attempted to take the vehicle. Loss was approximately $600. No surveillance video available.
 
February 04, 2022
  • No significant activity. 
February 05, 2022
  • Grand Theft Auto:
900 Block of Newington Street. On 02/05/22 between 5:25 am and 10:35 am Suspect(s) unknown stole the victims white 2002 Chevy Express van. Vehicle outstanding. No surveillance video available.
 
CRIME PREVENTION TIPS
 
Driving Safely:
  • Keep your car in good running condition. Make sure there’s enough gas to get where you’re going and back.
  • Turn the ignition off and take your car keys with you, even if you just to run inside for one minute.
  • Roll up the windows and lock your car doors, even if you are coming right back.
  • Avoid parking in isolated areas. If you are uncomfortable, ask a security guard or store staff to watch you or escort you to your car.
  • Drive to the nearest gas station, open business, or other well-lighted, crowded area to get help if you think you are being followed. Don’t head home.
  • Use your cellular phone, if you have one, to call the police if you are being followed or you’ve seen an accident. Otherwise, stay off your cellular phone while you are driving.
