South Brunswick Police Department Community Outreach Programs Highlighted

The South Brunswick Police Department works diligently year-round to build relationships with our community members through our outreach programs and our community policing efforts. Our goal is to partner with a variety of individuals and groups throughout town, develop shared goals, and act together to reach those goals. We do this so we can continue to build trust with the South Brunswick community and provide the best possible service our police department can offer our community members.

Below are two programs we would like to spotlight this week. By making our residents aware of the various services we offer, it is our hope that we can help reduce crime and the fear of criminal acts, empower community members and groups to assist the police department in our shared goal of combating crime in South Brunswick Township, and improve the quality of life for our residents.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

National Night Out is our biggest and most anticipated community event of the year. We typically host up to 7,000 residents, provide free food, games, prizes, and displays, and gain new friends within the community. We see this event as essential to maintaining lines of communication with our community, a necessity, as a police department is strongest when it has the full support of the community behind it.

After having had to cancel our event the past two years due to COVID-19, we are pleased to announce that we are planning on celebrating National Night Out this year on August 2nd, from 6pm to 9pm. The event will be held at Rowland Park. Keep watching for more details as the date gets nearer!

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

Our Neighborhood Watch program successfully teams officers up with community members in an attempt to keep a watchful eye on our neighborhoods. Citizens are trained to be good observers,         contacting police when they see anything amiss.

Over the past few years, we were unable to form many new groups, instead dedicating our resources to assisting existing groups virtually. For 2022, we would like to renew our efforts to train new Neighborhood Watch groups.

Any communities interested may reach out to our Community Policing Division at (732)329-4000 x7459 for more information.
