Campbell Police Officers Safely Resolve a Domestic Disturbance on Wren Way

Campbell, CA – On Wednesday, February 9, at approximately 9:02 PM, there were multiple reports of a male subject yelling and waving a firearm outside of a residence on Wren Way.  Callers also reported possible shots fired in the area.

Campbell Police officers arriving on scene observed an adult male, later identified as Timothy Johnson, 38 years old, pointing what officers believed to be a handgun towards a residence as they heard a shot being fired.

Out of an abundance of caution, a shelter in place order was issued for residents in the area and mutual aid was requested. Multiple agencies responded with personnel and armored rescue vehicles to help secure the area.

After approximately a two-hour standoff of trying to negotiate with the suspect, he remained agitated and uncooperative.  Officers, with the support of armored rescue vehicles, ultimately approached the suspect taking him into custody without further incident.  Upon investigation of the scene, a 9mm ghost gun was located along with multiple spent casings.

The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for charges that included felon in possession of a firearm, shooting into an inhabited dwelling and suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance while being in possession of a loaded firearm.

The Campbell Police Department would like to thank the San Jose, Los Gatos, and Santa Clara Police Departments along with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in safely resolving this incident.
