El Cerrito Police Department Blotter February 4th to February 7th 2022.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
 
February 4th
Driving under the influence, Vehicle collision – 1500 block of Elm St
At 10:15 am, officers were dispatched to a collision with injuries.  Upon arrival, they found one of the drivers; a 26-year-old El Cerrito man was under the influence of alcohol.  The man was arrested, transported to the hospital by ambulance and cited. 
 
Petty Theft – 500 block of El Cerrito Plaza
At 10:30 am, officers contacted a tenant who stole another tenant’s package from the mail room.  The subject was contacted at his apartment and agreed to return the package to the victim.  
 
Vehicle Theft – 7100 block of B Street
At 9:22 pm an officer was sent to a call where the victim’s vehicle was stolen earlier in the evening. 
 
February 5th
Attempted burglary – 3100 block of Carlson Blvd
An officer reports that an unknown suspect attempted to pry open a storage closet at the apartment complex. The victim caught the suspect sleeping in the laundry room and the suspect fled on foot.
 
February 6th
Shoplift – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreen’s)
At 2 pm, three suspects entered the store, concealed $400 worth of merchandise, and fled without paying. 
 
Shoplift – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 2:20 pm, three suspects entered the store, concealed $600 worth of merchandise, and fled without paying.
 
License plate theft – 10794 San Pablo Ave
Sometime overnight, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s license plate. 
 
Battery – 430 El Cerrito Plaza (Foot Locker)
At 6:10 pm an officer went to the report that two people got into an argument inside the store and the suspect threw a drink and spit on the victim.  The suspect then fled the plaza. 
 
Stolen Vehicle – 5020 El Cerrito Plaza (Panda Express)
At 6:41 pm an officer went to the call that the victim went inside the store to get food and left their vehicle running parked outside.  An unknown suspect entered the vehicle and drove off with it. 
 
Shoplift – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross)
At 1907 hours an officer was taking a report about a suspect who had stolen merchandise from the store.  Just then the suspect exited Lucky’s followed by security because they had stolen from that store.  The Ross employees identified that suspect as the same suspect responsible for the theft the officer was taking the report for.  She was placed under arrest for both thefts and issued a citation.
 
Shoplift – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky)
The suspect from above entered the store and left with merchandise they did not pay for.  They were stopped by the officer outside and placed under arrest.
 
Shoplift – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross)
While investigating the above two incidents Ross store employees pointed out another theft suspect that was exiting the store.  He was detained by officers outside, placed under arrest, booked at ECPD, and issued a citation.  
 
February 7th
Recovered stolen vehicle – 11280 San Pablo Ave
An officer recovered a 2000 Volkswagen that had been reported stolen to Oakland PD on 1/29.
